Removing my Crowfall pledge

I originally backed Crowfall three weeks or so ago, but honestly, I don’t think I can justify paying for it.

So I did something I’ve never done before. I took out my Crowfall crowdfunding pledge.

Sure they have something working now, but for some reason, I have it in the back of my mind that I’m either going to get scammed, or going to feel bad that I spent money on something I may not enjoy for a long while.

It may also be because I feel burned by Pathfinder Online… which doesn’t appeal to me now after backing it.

I don’t know if others feel the same, but I just wanted to share the feelings I had on this.

  1. I see absolutely nothing wrong with taking a wait-and-see stance on something like an MMO. I’ve crowdfunded many single-player games, but always with great care. I think I’ve only funded one MMO ever (not Crowfall), and it wasn’t for a huge amount.

If you’ve got games you’re playing and enjoying right now, it’s probably wise to hold off until you know for sure that Crowfall offers you something you really want!

  2. Don’t feel bad about it! Crowdfunding is something you should only do out of enthusiasm and belief in the project that you want express by helping it get going. The vast majority of people are going to wait and see on products in development, and there is nothing wrong with that. We actually appreciate you backing us initially and have no problem at all with you having second thoughts. I’ve done the same on a project when my enthusiasm waned after backing it. Thanks for checking out Crowfall in the first place and I hope you check us out when we launch!

    • I have to say, I don’t know how you found this relatively inactive blog, but the nice way in which you worded things makes me feel appreciative.

I will be checking (and spending) some money when you guys launch. As for right now, I will be cheering you folks on. :)
